The MDG mapper is a tool developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa for dynamic mapping of comparative progress by African countries towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. Using data provided by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), it enables speedy acquisition of up-to-date information on which countries have made the most progress and which are making the least progress at current rates of progress? For countries making the least progress, the Mapper enables the calculation of the extent to which they are off target.
Very easy to use, - all you have to do to is to choose a goal, target and indicator and click and the Mapper will generate maps, charts and statistics dynamically for you. The Mapper is the best ally of the analyst, researcher, policy maker, policy and social activist interested in monitoring Africa's progress towards the MDGs. For countries where sub-national data are available, the Mapper is able to analyse MDG progress at the sub-national, provincial or district level. The maps, charts, and statistics are of high quality and can be directly imported into reports and presentations. Poster-size maps can be downloaded for advocacy. Do not forget to give due attribution to ECA should you use the maps or the charts in your presentation, report, or paper.
